"I am very eager and honored to get to nominate Cambree B. for student of the month. Cam has been a student who has consistently shown up since the beginning of the school year and her participation and engagement has not once faded. Despite math not being her favorite subject, I would have never been able to guess because of how much she participates, comes on mic, and answers questions in class. It is no exaggeration to say that Cam is an excellent student and role model for her peers. She does her assignments on time, keeps track of her progress in class with her grades, and she makes every room that she steps in brighter (I have her for math and Champ Lab), and she consistently shows such a positive attitude no matter where she is. She also is funny and brings such great enthusiasm to all that she does, and she is a student who I believe would do the right thing even if I were not in class - that’s how much her integrity and character shines. I have been wanting to nominate her for a long time, and the fact that I have constantly been wanting to nominate her really shows how great and dedicated she is. I know that she will go into the future with great determination, confidence, and the ability to make a positive difference no matter what. Student Name: TONY M.
Math
"Tony works hard in all of his classes and cares deeply about his academic success. In Geometry, which is an area of struggle for him, he is working particularly hard and is making real life connections through engaging activities. Tony's effort and skills really shine in a recent cross curricular assignment in Geometry. In the assignment, Tony was asked to look at a painting and relate it to the geometry content we were learning. Tony's written response demonstrates he not only has excellent written expression skills, but also that he made the connection between geometry, art, and life. Tony is taking ownership of his own learning demonstrating a high level of responsibility and an amazing attitude! The full written response, as written by Tony, is copied and pasted from his assignment here: Looking at the art I notice that there are shapes and angles. I do wonder how the artist made the piece. Did they use Geometry with polynomials like points, lines, line segments, planes or did they use a different kind of practice. I should have known that math is a part of art and I’m feeling different emotions when looking at the piece. I feel understanding along with inspiration. I want to try making art like that, however I know Geometry will get more and more difficult as I keep progressing further. I really want to become an animator in future and I hope and pray that I will be able to do whatever I need to do in order to reach the goal I’m aiming for."
