GCA Beta Club Qualifies for National Competition
Maria Blencowe

Atlanta, GA 10/24-10/25 - National Beta members from Georgia Cyber Academy are celebrating their recent participation in the Georgia Leadership Summit.  They were announced as qualifiers of the Collaboration Connection challenge.

2022-2023 National Beta Competition Qualifier Award

National Beta Leadership Summits bring together students from multiple states for 1–2-day events. During that time, students work with interactive speakers who engage members through introspective exercises and team-building activities. Clubs can also participate in team-based leadership challenges which test their communication, critical thinking, creativity, presentation, and collaboration skills. Their victory at this level provides the opportunity to compete at the national level. The National Convention will be held at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville during the Summer of 2023.

Mrs. Gilyard the GCA Beta Advisor notes: Our GCA Beta team received scores of “Excellent” in critical thinking and creativity during their Collaboration Connection challenge.  The challenge required team members to think on their feet by applying collaborative leadership skills in a combination of performance-paced and task-based problem-solving. Our GCA Beta also received an award for participating in Beta Leadership Training that included topics on the four pillars of Beta, attributes of an effective leader, and planning service and outreach activities.

Last year our GCA Beta received designations for School of Distinction and School of Merit due to our continued growth and alignment with the Beta motto of “Let us Lead by Serving Others”.  We are on target to reach both designations for the 2022/2023 school year as well.
