Patch Program

The Patch Program is a rewards-based program that celebrates and rewards GCA’s students who actively participate in the field trips and events offered by the Community Events & Partnership Team.

Patch Program Enrollment Form

Any student who is in good academic standing, with a "C" average or above in all courses, at Georgia Cyber Academy may participate in the Patch Program. This program is open to students in all grade levels.

The Patch Program begins in August and ends in May for each academic year.  This year's Patch Program will run August 1, 2023-May 31, 2024.

Each field trip or event that GCA offers by the Community Events & Partnerships Team is attached to one of the patches that students can earn.  There are currently 6 patches that students can earn through the program. 

Students who are enrolled in the Patch Program are assigned to a Canvas course which is set up to track the student's progress.  After the student attends a field trip (virtually or in-person) they will need to upload a photo/selfie of them participating in the field trip to the Canvas course. 

There are 6 different patches that students can earn by attending field trips and uploading photos. 

1. Kiddie Corrals with Tonette (social and animal-themed field trips)
2. Dig Into History (history field trips)
3. Monique’s Imagination Station (dramatic arts and language arts) 
4. EcoTours with Erica (science field trips)
5. We are CHAMPions (events hosted with Champ, fitness, and character development) 
6. High Flyin’ (students attended 15+ field trips regardless of category)

This is a tiered program, so students can build upon their rewards as they earn them. See the tiered outline below. 

• Tier 1 - student attends and uploads photos for a minimum of one (1) field trip earns them a certificate in that associated category. For example: If the student attends a field trip to Zoo Atlanta event and uploads the photo to the associated assignment for that field trip, they will earn a certificate for Kiddie Corrals with Tonette. 
• Tier 2 - student attends and uploads photos from a minimum of (3) field trips earns them a patch in that associated category. For example: If the student attends three hours of science field trips and uploads the photos to the associated assignments for each field trip, they will earn a patch for the Science Power Hour. 
• Bonus Tier - students can earn a bonus patch called “High Flyin” which recognizes that they attended a minimum of 15 field trips throughout the program’s duration hosted by GCA regardless of their patch category. 

The Patch Program is optional.  Students will not be penalized for not participating in the Patch Program and are welcome to withdraw from the program at any time throughout the school year.  

Community Events and Field Trips are open to all students enrolled at GCA. Students are not required to be enrolled in the Patch Program to attend any field trip or event hosted by GCA.

Before registering to attend any GCA event or field trip, you should speak with their Family Engagement Liaison and Attendance Specialist. They are best trained to help ensure your student gets the most out of GCA while continuing to succeed in class.
