Family Engagement Team

Our Family Engagement Liaisons are dedicated to ensuring every Georgia Cyber Academy family feels welcomed, supported, and set up for success from day one. A cornerstone of this support is our Strong Start/Onboarding Program—designed to both build strong relationships and equip families with the tools they need to thrive in our virtual learning environment.

Each new family receives a personal welcome call, participates in an interactive orientation experience, and gains access to our comprehensive Strong Start Course in Canvas—a valuable resource available throughout the entire school year. Through this program, families begin their GCA journey informed, confident, and connected.

Family Engagement Liaisons (FELs) play a vital role in supporting our Enrollment and Records team during the re-registration process. They partner with families to ensure a smooth and successful transition into the next school year—answering questions, guiding them through each step, and making sure all required documents are submitted on time. With their support, families feel informed, confident, and ready for what’s ahead.

Family Engagement Liaisons (FELs) are proud partners in supporting Georgia Cyber Academy’s Assessment Department. During Milestones testing season, many FELs step into key roles as site coordinators, attendance monitors, examiners, proctors, and more—ensuring testing runs smoothly across the state.

In the 2021–2022 school year, we launched the FET Testing Team, a specialized group of just thirteen team members. In addition to their FEL caseloads, this team leads the charge in administering assessments for newly enrolled students before school begins and supports ongoing testing needs—such as MAP makeups and Interim Assessments—throughout the year. 

Family Engagement Liaisons (FELs) actively support GCA’s Compliance Team by helping families stay on track with attendance. When they notice attendance is missing, FELs personally reach out to families—offering reminders, guidance, and encouragement about the importance of entering attendance daily. Their outreach helps reinforce positive habits and keeps students engaged and accountable throughout the school year.

FELs support our teachers and the Operations team by helping to process student withdrawals.

FELs collaborate with every department in our school by working with them to support our families at every level.

Our Family School Partnership Coordinators play a dynamic role in building strong connections between families and the GCA community. At the start of each school year, they offer Learning Coach Live Help sessions to help families get the support they need right away. Throughout the year, they continue that connection by hosting monthly evening events where students and parents can join in fun activities, learn more about GCA, and meet fellow students and staff.

In addition, these coordinators lead club sessions, contribute valuable content to Champ Chatter (GCA’s newsletter), and keep Learning Coaches and students up to date on important events and deadlines. Their work helps create a vibrant, informed, and engaged school community where every family feels welcome and supported.

At the heart of everything they do, Family Engagement Liaisons (FELs) and Family School Partnership Coordinators love and support our families—and that passion shines through in every interaction. Our team is deeply committed to walking alongside families, encouraging them, and going above and beyond to ensure they feel valued, connected, and confident in their GCA journey.
