GCA PAC: Partnership for Success

The Purpose for Parent Advisory Council

The purpose of the Georgia Cyber ​​Academy (GCA) Parent Advisory Council is for parents to be positive ambassadors while providing meaningful input that impacts our students and their families. The primary focus of advisory members is to increase parent and family engagement by ensuring student academic success.

Members will meet with the School Family Partnership Team and may also meet with district administration and principals several times during the school year.

The Goal for Parent Advisory Council

The goal of the GCA Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is to ensure effective parent involvement while forming a partnership with the GCA community and supporting our family-friendly school environment.

Members:

The Parent Advisory Council are comprised of the follow types of GCA parents:

  • K-2nd Grades Parent Representative
  • 3-5th Grades Parent Representative
  • 6-8th Grades Parent Representative
  • 9-11th Grades Parent Representative
  • Senior (12th Grade) Parent Representative
  • K-5th Special Education Parent Representative
  • 6-8th Special Education Parent Representative
  • 9-12th Special Education Parent Representative
  • K-5th Gifted Parent Representative
  • 6-8 Gifted Parent Representative
  • 9-12 Honors/AP Parent Representative
  • K-5th ESOL Education Parent Representative
  • 6-8th ESOL Education Parent Representative
  • 9-12th ESOL Education Parent Representative

**Members have a maximum term of two years.**

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must complete the Application by September 6th at 5:00 pm
  • Must be willing and able to participate in GCA Parent Advisory Council Meetings.

This year's application is NOW OPEN. Click here to apply. Application will be open until Friday, September 6th at 5:00 pm and send a confirmation email to vokpani@georgiacyber.org. All parents who apply will be notified of application acceptance status by Friday, September 20th.

Parent Advisory Council Expectations

This Council is an advisory body. Final decision-making authority rests with school district leaders and principals. As board members, duties and responsibilities do not include personnel issues (hiring or evaluation of individual staff members) or any issues related to specific students, staff members, or parents. 

Parent Advisory Council Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of the Parent Advisory Council members to be professional and represent the council and the school in a positive manner. GCA administrative staff may disclose preliminary planning on policies and procedures for comment. Until these plans are finalized, it is the council's responsibility not to reveal the planning phases of any shared policies and producers at PAC meetings.
