Tellus Science Museum - Cartersville

We heard your feedback and extended the time for 1 hour for this event this year!  You can stay and play until 9pm if you like, find out more about our event below!  All GCA staff will leave at 8pm but the museum will stay open for you to enjoy until 9pm.  

Description: Looking for a Community Day experience out of this world? Join us for an evening among the stars at the Tellus Science Museum. Try your hand at being an archaeologist by digging up fossils or panning for gold. Explore all of the museum’s exhibits, see dinosaurs, cars from different times and participate in some hands-on science activities. You can also join us for a planetarium show during your visit but be sure to grab your tickets at check in.  Gem panning/fossil digging has limited spacing and will be ticketed.  The planetarium show will also be a ticketed option at the event.  Both are free but require a ticket to join the fun.  Check out our tables from our community partners and from our amazing staff at this event!  We hope to see you for our night at the museum!

Tunnel Hill Heritage Center and Museum - Tunnel Hill

Description: Join us for a morning at the museum!  We will have a guided tour of Tunnel Hill, the historic house, the museum and learn about locomotive history.  We will also have a Community Day Challenge at the park nearby and enjoy field games, sack races, spoon races and more with our GCA friends.  Be sure to pack a lunch, a blanket and get ready for some fun in the mountains!

Hillside Orchards - Lakemont

St. Simons Island Lighthouse and Putt Putt - St. Simons

Description: Looking for a Community Day experience near the ocean where you can enjoy sunshine on the coast? Join us for a fun day at the St Simons Lighthouse Museum and for putt putt fun!  We will explore the St. Simons Lighthouse Museum in the Keeper's Dwelling and discover the fascinating history of Coastal Georgia through colorful exhibits of rare artifacts, historical photographs, and interactives designed for the whole family. The development of lighthouse technology is also traced. We will visit the period rooms on the second floor of the Dwelling and imagine yourself back in the year 1907, when the lighthouse keeper and his family lived and worked here before electricity and indoor plumbing.   We also have field games and fun in the park and at the playground and enjoy Miniature Golf in Neptune Park!  Be sure to pack your lunch, a pen and bring the whole family for the fun!  Spacing is limited for the event so please register early!
