Parent Partnership

Your Partnership with Georgia Cyber Academy: Supporting Your Child's Success

At Georgia Cyber Academy (GCA), we believe that parents and families are essential partners in their child's education. Our goal is to ensure that every parent and family feels actively involved, supported, and empowered throughout their student's academic journey. We are committed to working collaboratively with you to provide a high-quality, flexible learning experience that empowers students to reach their full potential.

The Importance of Parent Partnership

GCA recognizes that a strong home-school connection is crucial for student success, especially in a virtual learning environment. We strive to create a supportive and inclusive community where parents and educators work together to guide students toward academic excellence.

Parent and Family Engagement

The goal of Parent and Family Engagement at GCA is for all parents and families to become active partners in the education of their student; to feel supported and empowered by staff; and to be connected to other GCA families and the GCA community as a whole in order to help guide your student(s) toward academic success.

We welcome our parents and Learning Coaches to become active participants through volunteering and participating in parent leadership opportunities at our school. Please consider partnering with us to ensure the academic success of all students and the engagement of all families at GCA.

Parent Leadership and Volunteer Opportunities

GCA offers numerous opportunities for parents to take on leadership roles and volunteer their time and talents. Parent leadership is successfully achieved when parents and educational professionals build effective partnerships and share responsibilities, expertise, and leadership in decisions being made that affect student success, families, and communities.

If you are interested in sharing your gifts and talents with your school community, we have a place for you!

Parent Volunteer Opportunities

The Parent Volunteer Program is a way to involve parents in the experiences of their children and to take an active interest in student success. The Volunteer Program also helps increase community engagement and academic achievement.

Family Engagement Team

The Family Engagement Team (FET) is dedicated to supporting students and Learning Coaches, providing a comprehensive support system, early intervention, and connections to school and community-based resources. The FET is committed to reducing student disengagement and withdrawals by providing comprehensive support to GCA families. Our Family Engagement Liaisons (FELs) work closely with parents, teachers, and other staff to ensure students have the resources and encouragement they need to succeed.

Family Engagement Liaisons

Family Engagement Liaisons (FELs) are a primary point of contact for families, facilitating communication and collaboration between home and school. FELs provide a range of services, including:

  • Guiding new families through the onboarding process

  • Providing platform support and troubleshooting

  • Maintaining regular contact with families

  • Collaborating with teachers to provide additional support

  • Guiding students in using the Online School Platform

  • Informing families of school updates

  • Providing support in all areas of student learning and achievement

FELs are available Monday-Friday from 8 am to 4 pm and will respond to inquiries within 24 hours on school days.

Learning Coach Responsibilities

As GCA students access their learning resources online, support and guidance from an adult who is physically present with the student is essential. This individual, known as the Learning Coach, plays a vital role in the student's success. Most frequently the Learning Coach is a parent, but it can also be a tutor or other designated adult responsible for the student’s day-to-day learning supervision.

Primary duties of the Learning Coach include:

  • Reading emails from GCA daily (we recommend at least once daily).

  • Answering questions from GCA as soon as possible (we recommend within 24 hours).

  • Completing all paperwork and survey requests

  • Keeping your student’s information up to date (address, contact number, etc.)

  • Monitoring your student’s assignment completion and grades daily

  • Ensuring that your student attends all required live classes

  • Entering attendance when needed

  • Monitoring your student when taking assessments and tests to ensure they stay on task

  • Reaching out to teachers and staff when you have questions or need support

We are here to partner with you!

Each faculty and staff member at Georgia Cyber Academy is dedicated to fostering strong partnerships with parents and families. We believe that by working together, we can create a supportive and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive.
