When Omolade joined what she thought was a routine Zoom meeting with her counselor, she immediately noticed a few GCA administrators were already in the room. For a second, she thought she might be in trouble. But then the slide changed—“Valedictorian.” That’s when it clicked… and that’s when the tears came.
If you think being valedictorian means being all books and no personality, Omolade will prove you wrong. She's known for making her friends laugh, encouraging everyone around her, and spending just as much time having fun as she does with her nose in a textbook. (Badminton’s her favorite—she calls it “baby tennis.”)
She credits her mindset to her parents, who raised her to push through challenges. And while she's learned to let go of obsessing over grades, her drive hasn't gone anywhere. As she puts it, “even a screwdriver can drive a nail with enough effort.”
Next up: she’s heading to the University of West Georgia to start nursing school—and she’s already thinking ahead to moving to New York City.
She gives a shout out to God, her parents, and her sister for always supporting her, and says GCA gave her the flexibility to travel, learn, and stay connected to family—especially in Nigeria, where she feels most at home. We can’t wait to see you soar beyond GCA! Stay hootworthy, Omolade!
