Michael Adams, a Kindergarten student at Georgia Cyber Academy (GCA), has soared to the top 10 winners in a national poetry contest. His poem, "When I Look Around," stood out among thousands of submissions and was selected as one of the ten best in his grade division.
"When I Look Around" by Michael Adams:
The trees are beautiful
The flowers are bright
When I look around
It is a wonderful sight.
The sun is very bright
It warms the ones who are cold.
I look around the earth
And love the colors that are bold.
In recognition of his achievement, Michael received a $25 prize and a copy of the poetry anthology, "A Celebration of Poets," which features his winning poem.

The poetry contest is sponsored by Creative Communication which offers a creative outlet for youth while also awarding classroom supplies to schools across the nation. The contest is held for students in grades K-9 with the top ten writers in each division (grades K-3, 4-6, 7-9). Poems are selected for their literary merit, creativity, and social significance.
