GCA Parent Selected for State Superintendent's PAC!

GCA Parent Selected for State Superintendent's PAC!
Maria Blencowe

We are excited to announce that Mrs. Elizabeth Roberts, GCA Parent and Learning Coach was recently selected to join the 2024-2026 State School Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council (PAC).

The PAC is a group of parents from across the state that provides input on new policies, projects, and materials that impact students and their families. Throughout the entire state of Georgia, approximately 30 members are chosen to participate in the council and will meet with the State School Superintendent several times throughout their two-year term. Members are chosen based on their capacity to lead, current levels of involvement in their child’s school, and responses to application questions.

Mrs. Roberts believes that parental engagement is vital to nurturing students' academic growth and understands the importance of partnership in education in increasing the success of schools and districts overall. While serving on the PAC, she will be providing a parent’s perspective from the lens of a virtual school parent. When asked about how she hopes to make an impact while serving on the PAC, Mrs. Roberts explained that she "desires to provide feedback and insight to

  • stimulate action and protect students' learning interests.
  • assist in improving the achievement of all students through strong instructional leadership, innovative instruction, technology integration, and common assessments.
  • assist the State Superintendent in being even more adept at managing and enhancing school operations, improving academic performance, and fostering positive learning environments."

In addition to her new role as member of the State PAC, Mrs. Roberts is also a dedicated member of our GCA community having been a valuable member of the Georgia Cyber Academy Parent Advisory Council (GCA PAC) for several years. Veronica Okpani, facilitator of the GCA PAC commented, "Throughout her participation on the GCA PAC, Mrs. Roberts has provided insightful and solution-focused feedback. I am confident that she will be a great asset to the state council."

Mrs. Roberts has twin sons enrolled in our Elementary Grades and has a strong commitment and love for GCA. The Roberts family is featured in our Day in the Life Series which highlights the experience of several GCA families and shares why GCA is the right choice for them.

On behalf of the GCA Community, we are so proud to have Mrs. Elizabeth Roberts represent our Champions on the State Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council. Her role will not only bring recognition to our community but also ensure that our unique needs and perspectives are heard.

Congratulations Mrs. Roberts! You are a Champion!
