The Margaret O. Bynum Scholarship Fund, established by the Georgia Association for Gifted Children (GAGC), provides financial assistance of up to $1,000 for professional learning opportunities. Scholarship recipients must hold a gifted endorsement and commit to serving gifted students in Georgia for at least one school year following the award.

GCA educators Cozart, Otero, and Sheehan were recognized for their dedication to supporting gifted learners and their commitment to advancing their professional expertise. Through this scholarship, they will have the opportunity to attend specialized training, conferences, or other professional learning experiences that will enhance their ability to meet the unique needs of gifted students.

Dr. Deirdre Daniels, Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment Director, praised the educators, stating that Ms. Cozart, Ms. Otero, and Ms. Sheehan have achieved, “an exceptional accomplishment given the thousands of applicants across the state and only six recipients chosen. Their commitment to learning and leadership will undoubtedly inspire excellence in gifted education. This is a remarkable achievement, and we are proud of their success.”

The GAGC Margaret O. Bynum Scholarship emphasizes the importance of professional development for gifted educators by enabling them to acquire new strategies, resources, and leadership skills. Recipients will share their experiences at an upcoming GAGC conference, contributing to a broader understanding of best practices in gifted education across Georgia.
