A Message from GCA's Superintendent

Maria Blencowe

Good day, Parents & Learning Coaches.

Warm and sunny greetings to you!  I hope you have had a wonderful summer break thus far and that you and your family have been able to enjoy some quality time together over the last couple of months.

Over the last few weeks, our administrators, faculty, and staff have been working hard to prepare to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year.  Please note that students whose enrollment application was fully approved prior to July 26, 2020 will start school on Monday, August 3, 2020

If you are new to GCA and your enrollment application is on hold, awaiting review, or missing any documentation; please be sure to submit any missing documents as soon as possible.  This will help the application approval process go more smoothly.  Our Enrollment & Records team is reviewing and approving submitted applications and their accompanying documentation daily.  During this time of year, responses to emails, voice messages, and enrollment application approvals can take up to 10 days.  Your patience is greatly appreciated as the team works diligently to process all the applications and inquiries in a timely manner.  To help speed the process, be sure to respond to any requests from the Enrollment & Records team as soon as possible to ensure timely processing.

Whether you are a newly enrolled or returning family, you should receive communication from your Family Success Liaison (FSL) by email or phone call before the end of this week (July 31, 2020).   Your FSL will share important information and resources for you including a new course housed in your Canvas Observer account:

Newly Enrolled Families

Strong Start Course – this course is an orientation provided for new families.  Accessible via a Canvas Observer account, you will learn about different online school platforms and other information that is critical for success at Georgia Cyber Academy.

Returning Families

Stay Strong Course – this course is designed to keep you on track with beginning of the year tasks and will serve as a resource to help you review processes, procedures, and platform navigation.  It also serves as a collection for items such as the Handbook Agreement form, Family Income Form, and other important documents.

Our Family Academic Support Team created these courses just for you so that you can receive the information you need now and throughout the remainder of the school year.  I hope you find them valuable.

As you enjoy the remainder of your summer break, I want to personally thank you for selecting Georgia Cyber Academy as your choice in education.  I, our administrative team, faculty, and staff are truly honored to have you here with us.  Together, we will strive to provide the education your student needs to Rise Up, Aim High, and Soar!

Sincerely,

Angela Lassetter
