Governance Training Policy

The Board of GCA adopts the following policy, effective on the date of adoption by the Board.

Unless revised by the Georgia State Charter School Commission (SCSC), Board members are required to complete 12 hours of training each year by June 30th of each fiscal year of service. If the SCSC changes their policy, board members must adhere to future policy changes regarding training hours. Failure to comply with these requirements has a direct negative effect on the school’s operational accountability with the SCSC.

Board members must make every effort to attend one of the free board governance training retreats provided the SCSC.

By June 30th of each fiscal year, GCA will report training hours for all board members to the SCSC. Board members who do not complete all training hours by June 30th of each fiscal year will not be able to continue their service as board members.

The governance committee will update the board quarterly on progress towards completing training hours.
